Where Astro is better

  • Unlimited tracked keywords for one yearly price. ASOClimb caps Pro at 1,500.
  • Keyword popularity read directly from Apple Search Ads, Apple’s own number. ASOClimb’s popularity is a modeled index.
  • Your data stays on your Mac in a single database file you can copy to another machine.
  • A 14-day refund window. ASOClimb does not refund a charge once taken.
  • Keyword translation through a DeepL integration.

Where ASOClimb is better

  • Google Play as well as the App Store, in the same workspace.
  • Runs in any browser on any computer, and your team sees the same workspace. Astro is a single-Mac licence on macOS 14 or later.
  • A hosted MCP server with OAuth sign-in that remote clients such as Claude and ChatGPT reach without a tunnel or an app left open.
  • Wow Keywords writes the title, subtitle and keyword field on ASOClimb’s servers, with no AI client or key of your own.
  • A free plan to start, and $10 a month if you would rather not pay a year up front.

Do not buy ASOClimb if…

If you ship iOS apps only, work alone on a Mac, want unlimited keywords and Apple Search Ads popularity, and prefer your data on your own disk, Astro at $108 a year is a strong choice. ASOClimb is for people who also need Google Play, a browser, a team or a hosted MCP connection.

How the numbers differ

Astro says it extracts keyword popularity directly from Apple Search Ads. ASOClimb models popularity from how early the store suggests a term and from the ratings of the apps already ranking; it is an index for comparing keywords, not a search count.

Check any keyword yourself with the free keyword checker, see how ASOClimb scores keywords in the keyword score methodology, or let Wow Keywords build your keyword set and write your listing.

Questions

How much does Astro cost?

On 1 November 2026 Astro’s site listed one plan: a single Mac licence at $108 billed annually, shown as $9 a month. It listed no free plan and a 14-day refund window.

Does Astro work with Google Play?

Astro’s site describes it as an App Store optimization tool for iOS developers and does not mention Google Play. ASOClimb covers both the App Store and Google Play.

Where does each tool keep my data?

Astro keeps its data in a database file on your Mac. ASOClimb keeps it on its servers in your workspace, so it is the same from any browser.

Do I need my own AI to use either?

Not for the apps themselves. Astro’s optional MCP server is used from an AI client you run, such as Claude Code or Cursor. ASOClimb’s Wow Keywords runs on ASOClimb’s servers with no AI key, and its MCP server is optional.
